Because the museum is really five attractions in one, a little planning pays off. The dome show is the headline experience: a reclining seat under a vast hemispherical screen, with planetarium star fields and full-dome films that immerse you in the night sky in a way no flat screen can. The Cosmic Adventure ride sends little ‘spacecraft’ cars through a tour of the solar system, which younger kids tend to love, while the 3D Theater runs shorter science films.
The Exhibits Hall is where curious visitors of any age can linger. Spread over three floors, it covers the solar system, the universe, ancient astronomy, and space technology, with plenty of buttons to press, models to handle, and interactive stations. If the weather is clear and the rooftop Observatory is open, it’s worth a look for a glimpse through the telescopes — check on the day, as observing sessions depend on conditions.
